Many of you may remember me from a couple of years ago when I worked behind the store counter and helped maintain the range. Well, I’m back, but in a different capacity. I will be working in the “back room” in an effort to enhance Bulls Eye Marksman Gun Club’s on-line presence and capabilities. We plan to continue to enchance and modify this newletter to make it of value to our customers and fellow shooters by providing relevant and timely information related to the shooting industry. We will be modifying our web site soon to enhance its appearance and usability and will include significant enhancements to our on-line store.

In the near future, we plan to have other on-line offerings that will contribute to your shooting and gun owning knowledge and experiences. These may include things like discussion forums and blogs. As mentioned in the last newletter, we also have plans to give you the opportunity to submit your own thoughts and ideas related to topics of interest for publication in our newsletter.

Safety should always be first and formost in the minds and actions of every individual each time a firearm is handled. When shooting a firearm, you should always make sure to wear eye protection. Recently, one of the staff members at the range was sighting in a scope on a rifle for a customer and experienced a case head separation on a 22 magnum.
|
While the 22 mag is not a high pressure round like the centerfire calibers, the maximum chamber pressure is around 25,000 psi – nothing to sneeze at.
Fortunately, the shooter was wearing appropriate eye protection. He got splattered on the forehead and the arm, and the magazine was destroyed, but the eye protection did its job. Considering the value of your eyes, and the inexpensive cost of appropriate eye protection, get two (or three) pair so you will always have one when you lose the other one! We have them in the store and you can always get them in our on-line store.

Basic Handgun Classes:
Classes
are now open for enrollment. On the First and Third Monday of every month,
we will be holding a basic hand gun class from 6:00 until 9:00 PM. |

Glock Match May 2nd, 10AM to 2PM
On Saturday May 2, 2009 we will be hosting the monthly Glock Match from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
This is the 2nd in a series of 3 matches and if you missed the one in April don’t forget you need to enter in May and June to qualify for the drawing for the free Glock pistol to given away. Good luck to all! |

Many things have been written and said since last Fall’s federal elections concerning what may happen with the new administration’s obvious bias against the 2nd Amendment and the individual right to own and use firearms by the law-abiding citizenry of this country. While most of you reading this agree the attempts to overide our individual firearms freedoms are unjust and despicable, make no mistake that the threat is very real.

The President has made comments recently that he believes we should have the right to legally own guns under the 2nd Amendment and that his administration has no plans to reinstitute the Clinton era gun ban on lawful semi-automatic firearms. Well, believe that one if you want to but many of us believe that it is simply a matter of time before Senator Diane Feinstein and other anti-gunners in our federal government make a concerted effort to put these and other bans into place. We have these beliefs because Senator Feinstein and others have said publicly that they plan to do so. And when they decide to move forward, they will have the support of the President.
So if you have had your heart set on that nice new semi-auto with the high capacity magazines, I would suggest you think about making the purchase sooner, rather than later. Come by the shop and look at our selection. We usually have Glocks, Springfield XDs, Smith and Wesson M&Ps and SIGs. Of course, we can always order anything else you might be interested in.
